A day in the life of a modern dodo...

Well, car was fucked. Had to send it to the dealership. Needed a new starter, which itself is a little under 1,400 USD, not including the fee for installing it. Had some other shit wrong with it, but we're getting that stuff fixed at our local mechanic because as my dad said, the dealership are highway robbers. Me and my brother are picking it up later today. We were gonna go after his doctor's appointment (he's fine, just a skin reaction to a virus) and we were almost there when our mom texted us that it wasn't ready. Lol. Riding in a manual car with someone who is new to driving manual is fucking terrifying, by the way. Having a car is a nightmare, but so is not having one.

Hey guys :) first real blog post here. Coding is fucking HARD. Not much going on with me, started watching some new TV and some new books. Did you guys know about Anna's Archive? It's crazy useful. I've been reading a lot of Star Trek books. I didn't read it there, but I highly recommend Andrew Robinson's A Stitch in Time if you're a DS9 fan. I listened to the audiobook (narrated by the author!) when I was first recovering from my concussion and unable to read books. And if you're not a DS9 fan, I recommend watching it, you don't need any other Star Trek knowledge to do so. I went back to my normal work schedule on Friday (02/06/2026), cause I had Wednesday off because of grand rounds, and then before that the doctor I work with was in Florida for a conference (must've been nice!), and before THAT I had to take two days off cause of 1. insane snowstorm where we got over a foot of snow and 2. I was so dehydrated I was vomiting and in horrible pain. Did go to the doctor the second day she had me take four cups of Miralax in 32oz of Gatorade but I could find a 32oz bottle so I had it with a 20oz and a 28oz (I don't care what your doctor says, do NOT do this. Shat my brains out and yes a little got on my pants and I did cry). Anyway, it's good to be back on my normal schedule again. I get kind of fucked up if I stay in the house too much. I want it to be warm again...
For a while I had a ton of energy, to the point of being unable to sleep, and I got a lot of stuff done. Unfortunately that has come to an end and I'm back to sleeping a lot. When I was younger I suspected bipolar, but my therapist said it probably wasn't so I have been forced to conclude I am capable of storing sleep in a way scientists have not yet observed in any animals. It's a shame cause I have my ADHD meds now, and if I still had that energy I could probably, I don't know, solve clean energy. Whatever. I'm almost done with Voyager, I'm on season 7.
My younger brother put a down payment on a car the other day. Happy for him, but I do sometimes feel like shit for being way slower at him than everything (I have a car, but got my license later, didn't go to college like he's going to, and am in general kind a late bloomer). Speaking of cars, mine is currently in the shop cause it hasn't been starting since Friday night when my brother had it at the grocery store parking lot. We tried to jump it yesterday morning (snowy, cold, barly awake. Sucked.) but with no success. My mom's gonna drive me to work (and my brother to school since I drive him) on Monday, so I'm not stuck at home, but it still blows.
I guess I did have a lot going on. Mostly small stuff though.
